I believe all of us need to be reminded of this one. Unfortunately, we can get so caught up in our daily to-do-lists that we forget when a pop quiz, test, or trial comes our way, we have to be ready to conquer it! However, if we’re not trained by having our reservoir of Scriptures at hand, then it will be pretty hard to win. So that’s why we have to be ready at all times to…Speak the Word!

Jesus did it! And as Christians, we can do it too. When Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness to sin against God, His Father, he clearly told him, “It is written…” Well, we have the same right! We have to do the same thing when he comes to tempt us or tell us lies against the truth. However, we have to go a little step further. Today, we’re going to look at ourselves as well, because sometimes the enemy we’re fighting against is us (our flesh).

Oh yes! It’s true. How many times have you battled in a certain area in your life, that you felt you just couldn’t seem to overcome? Whether it was smoking, drinking, having a bad attitude, being disrespectful to authority, cursing, being mean, procrastination, gossip, fornication, lustful thoughts…the list could literally go on and on. It’s like this huge stronghold, right?

Well, let me tell you. From experience, when God begins to deal with you in certain areas (pop quiz/tests/trials), it’s time to grab some index cards, a pen, and a Bible. Yep! It’s memory Scripture time! Whatever it is, it’s time to eat the Word. So later on you can…Speak the Word and gain victory over your circumstances. Amen!

Personally, I can recall a time when I needed to eat the Word (meaning chew on some Scriptures for awhile-memorize and meditate on them). I was beginning to get a little snappy with my husband. It wasn’t just one time, but at this particular season, it was becoming more frequent. I knew something wasn’t right inside of me. And God knew it too. So that’s when He began to deal with me on it.

Any of you who are married, may know what I’m talking about, because we are supposed to be submissive (obedient) and respectful to our husbands. In Ephesians 5:24 it says, “As the church submits to Christ, so you wives must submit to your husbands in everything.” And Ephesians 5:33, “So again, I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Get ready singles! I’m training you. So with that being said, I needed to get a handle on this, quickly. Because if I hadn’t it could be blasphemous! Titus 2:5 says, “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” Ouch! Scripture is pretty powerful if you apply it. Take note..."Obedience brings blessings and peace."

Anyhoo! I’m going to give you a few suggestions that may help you as you deal with certain issues beyond marriage. Here goes…

Dealing with difficult people – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Learning to endure hard work or ministry – “Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles 15:7)

Spiritual Warfare – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11)

When you feel discouraged or you need to know that God is there to help you through a difficult time – “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 – NLT).

If you feel afraid or scared – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

The key here is to…Speak the Word! Speak it over your situation and it will give you strength, comfort, peace, help, etc. No matter what you’re going through, the Word of God is life to you. It gives you power over the enemy and the flesh once it’s been activated. So what are you waiting for? If you don’t have your reservoir of Scriptures (meaning a place where anything is collected and stored), start today. Begin hiding the Word in your heart. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” So, no matter how long you’ve been saved, you need this. Hide it and speak it when you need it. You’ll be amazed at the power that dwells inside of you! Speak the Word!

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s get ready from the Inside Out!
