When God is silent, He is watching. Remember, He never slumbers or sleeps (Psalm 121:4). He sees you and hears you. He’s just up to something that you don’t quite know or understand. However, as you continue trusting Him and aiming to please Him, believe that it’s all going to work out for your good in the end (Romans 8:28). Really believe it with everything within you! Furthermore, when you feel like He’s not there, grab tightly to His word when He says that He will never leave you, nor forsake you…especially when He is silent.

Recently, I saw a post on Facebook that read, “Remember the teacher is always quiet during the test.” Have you seen or heard this one before? Pretty powerful, huh?! Now, food for thought. When you’re going through a test, trial, or training in your life, sometimes (not all the time), God can be silent. And I would venture to say here that it doesn’t mean that He doesn’t care about you or what you’re going through. I believe, He just wants you to trust Him even deeper and know that He is God (See Hebrews 11:6).

He is in control (I know from experience). He has not forgotten you or forsaken you. And He will never fail you or abandon you (even if you feel like He has already). He just sees the bigger picture. He sees the final result. And He knows that it will be good when it’s all said and done. Yet for the moment, you may have to endure suffering.

“Why?” You might ask. Well, ultimately because He is trying to do a work in you. He’s trying to build a testimony that will help others around you and fashion your character to reflect the image of Christ (example: “Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.” – NLT). So sometimes that may mean that He will need to be silent for a while.

As you grow stronger in your walk with the Lord, you’ll discover as you read the word more and more, that God is interested in molding and shaping you to respond like Jesus did. You know, God was silent when Jesus was suffering on the cross? It’s true. Remember, as Jesus was doing the will of God He asked His Father, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)

I believe the Lord allowed that vulnerable moment to show us the great example that sometimes it will seem like God has forgotten us down here in our suffering (whether it’s physical or emotional). But take notice that He absolutely did NOT forget His Son. He just had a GREATER plan…to SAVE us. Hallelujah! With that being said, He has NOT forgotten you. He just has a GREATER plan…to HELP others.

Hold onto 1 Peter 5:10 which says, “…so after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” (NLT) Also 1 Peter 5:9 encourages, “Stand firm against him (Satan), and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering.” (NLT) Believe His word…You are not alone.

Now, let’s go back for just a second before I close this post. Sure Jesus had the power to supernaturally come down off of that cross and reveal His power. And sure, we have the right to throw in the towel and say, “I give up!” BUT instead, we have to hold on and humble ourselves as Jesus did. We have to take up our crosses (the pre-ordained tests, trials, and training processes), lay down our lives for others so that they can be saved through our testimonies, and so that we can later experience the joy that Jesus experienced.

Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “…And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” (NLT) Amen!

So when God is silent, keep your eyes on Jesus. Stay focused, endure your cross, and trust Him. Also speak what He spoke through tears, “Not my will, but your will be done, Father.” Because again, God sees the BIGGER picture. So hold on my sister and let God finish the work that He started in you (see Philippians 1:6). And know that every trial has an expiration date. Jesus said so Himself, “It is finished.” 😉

Remember Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
